Secondhand Gallyon and Sons Side by Side 12 Gauge Ejector shotgun.
Previous owner purchased in 2000 and has kept good care of it since.
Would have been exceptionally expensive back in the day.
Overall the gun is very presentable and is in lovely condition given that its around 66 years old. The bottom plate of the action still has excellent bluing as have the barrels themselves. The bore is also excellent and has an good shine.
Ejection is still spritely and the action is smooth which shows that there’s clearly a lot of life left in this gun yet.
Original monogrammed leather case is included which also contains cleaning rods, nickel plated oil bottle branded Gallyon and Sons, two nickel plated snap caps – again branded with Gallyon and Sons.
Keys to the case lock have also been retained.
Potentially I nice collectors piece if you are that way inclined.
As an anecdotal piece for this the previous owner stated that:
It was acquired at auction in 2000 and to the Proof House to have it fitted and initials added.
“At the time, by pure coincidence, Richard Gallyon was the ‘Master’ and was at the Proof House at the time. He thought he may have been involved in its manufacture…probably a tall story, but he did all the measuring etc, which was lovely”
